Comprehensive Health Assessment
We start with a comprehensive health assessment including all aspects of your family and personal health history, medications, supplements, diet, lifestyle choices and more. Previous laboratory studies are a welcome addition to this process. Specialized lab testing will be ordered as necessary. Conventional as well as specialty physical exams are often utilized to gather further information. This process allows us to customize your treatment plan.
Comprehensive Hormone Assessment
From menopause to fatigue to mood disorders to musculoskeletal health, hormones play an important role in health. Advanced hormone testing allow us to assess your total hormone picture in far more detail than standard testing. This information allows us to address imbalances, support pathways, and slow cellular aging as well as optimizing your hormone levels so you can look and feel your best.
Bio Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy
Hormonal shifts and declining levels as we age can cause the symptoms that occur with menopause, andropause, and at the start of a woman’s monthly period (PMS/PMDD). Low hormones affect everything from libido and mood to skin tone and sleep patterns. These symptoms can be disruptive to a harmonious life.
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy re-establishes balance in your body by providing specifically-designed hormones that are molecularly identical to those that naturally occur in your body. These synthetic hormones are sourced from nature, where they originate in soy or wild yam plants and are modified to create an exact match to your own hormone molecules. By replenishing hormones levels with these organic options you can reclaim your natural balance and alleviate – even eliminate – problematic symptoms. Both men and women benefit from Bio-identical Hormone Therapy.
Are Bioidentical Hormones Right For You?
Symptoms often alleviated by BHRT are: hot flashes, mood swings, decreased energy, hormone imbalance, fatigue, erectile dysfunction, low libido, sleep disturbances, anxiety, thinning/sagging skin, weight gain, metabolic issues, bone loss, and depression.
We come into contact with hundreds of chemicals in our air, food and water daily. People vary in their ability to eliminate these from our systems. Many do not realize that health issues may be the result of sensitivity to these factors in our environment. We can test and then treat you for environmental “toxins” and help you make lifestyle adjustments so you are no longer suffering negative consequences of these exposures.
In some cases a metabolic detoxification cleanse, tailored to your health needs, is recommended. The cleanse consists of a vitamin-rich shake and a carefully planned diet to help your body gently release toxins and reduce inflammation that contributes to many common health problems.
During this process you may learn more about what your own body needs — which foods make you thrive with energy and which ones cause unwanted symptoms. This knowledge can be utilized in future choices that help you feel your personal best all the time.
Thyroid Hormone Assessment
The thyroid gland is considered the master endocrine regulator. Almost every cell in your body has a receptor for thyroid hormone, making it one of the most important hormones in your body. Under or over activity of this gland can have a huge impact on your overall health, even if it’s just slightly out of normal range. At Healthwise we use a full panel to assess thyroid function that includes up to four blood markers. This provides a more complete picture of your need for thyroid treatment vs. testing only one, TSH. Treatment options are a function of the assessment results, symptoms and the cause of the imbalance if one exists, and can be a combination of bio-identical and/or synthetic thyroid prescriptions. Dietary assessments are an important aspect of any treatment plan. The standard American diet (S.A.D) is over-represented in quick digesting carbohydrates, trans-fats, and lacking in nutrient rich vegetables.
By tailoring a diet to the patient, we support an optimal nutrient status necessary to meet the demands of that patient in their life and lifestyle. This is another opportunity to create an individualized plan for diet based on healthcare objectives, current health challenges, lifestyle and physiologic status.
Too often patients come in with a shopping bag of supplements, or alternatively, taking nothing because they are overwhelmed by conflicting advice. Our aim is to create a simplified, targeted supplement protocol tailored to the individual. This plan takes into account the present health status as well as the healthcare goals. We explain in detail what is recommended, and why. We don’t want you wasting time or money.
In order to achieve high levels of performance, at any age, nutrition, exercise frequency, exercise intensity, and individualized supplementation all need to be optimized. Testing for basal metabolic rate, intracellular vs. extracellular water stores, and basic nutritional parameters are used to design an optimal wellness and physical performance enhancing plan. Craniosacral Therapy is a form of body manipulation that consists of gentle holding of cranial bones and the sacrum using indirect techniques to aline the body so that it can function to its maximum potential both energetically and structurally. This form of body work addresses not only the bone structure in the body, but aids in releasing fascial restrictions, improves lymph flow, decreases pain and inflammation, and calms the nervous system. These benefits leave the body feeling energized, balanced, and with improved structural alignment.
